Remember

The daily dose of a Daily Prompt by the Daily Post.

A service has been invented through which you can send messages to people in the future. To whom would you send something, and what would you write?

If sending messages to the future would come true then I would write a message to my future self.

What would I write? Let’s start with a draft.

Future & Past

To the future Me,

Remember the times when we were struggling with our studies? The times mom and dad won’t let us take a vacation with our friends or even hang out ’til late at night? Remember that time you were willing to fight for yourself and for the people you love, the times when you know where to stand. What about even that time when you let our friends take funny videos of us or give them personalized gifts?

Remember that, even the smallest of things you did.

I hope that everything turned out right for us. Whatever you are doing right now, I want you to remember everything you are. Who we are is not only defined by what we are doing in the present, but who we used to be. It is our foundation. You should never forget the fun times and the sad. What brings us into this day is because we never gave up on living. You cannot know what the future holds but you have your past to hold on to, so just be whatever you were and continue being that.

Oh, and don’t forget to breathe.

Always,

The past You.
