Miracle, It Is.

Photo Challenge : Twist

“Twist” is filthy with meaning: it’s the unexpected, it’s surprise, it’s even an amazing ice cream choice. What does “twist” mean to you?

What’s the surprise in this fruit? It’s not when you actually eat it. It happens when you eat something after this. This is the Synsepalum dulcificum, also called the miracle fruit. Once you eat this fruit, anything you eat afterwards (including sour foods) will taste sweet due to the miraculin content that is also used as a sugar substitute. The sweet taste doesn’t have a definite duration but you’d be able to eat lots to taste the effect.
